I am Wu Hong, a rural woman living in Nanzheng County, Shaanxi Province. I have three siblings. Wu Jun was my second younger brother. He was born in 1963, graduated from a junior college, and taught in Qingshu Secondary School in Nanzheng County. His son was seeking his master degree; his wife Li Hong ran a grocery store before she got paralyzed in an accident in 2010. Despite the misfortune they encountered, the family was satisfied with their life since my nephew was an excellent student and my younger brother had a stable income. But the family was broken up as my younger brother got obsessed with Falun Gong and refused to see doctor.
Wu Jun was in poor health, suffering from gallstone, heart disease and hepatitis. One day in early autumn in 1998, Wu Jun run into an acquaintance on his way to hospital. The acquaintance introduced Falun Gong to him, explaining that practicing Falun Gong was able to cure diseases without taking medication. In addition, he gave Wu Jun some materials on Falun Gong. Wu Jun only half believed what he said, but he decided to try with an aim to cure his diseases. Although his family members advised him to see doctor, he persisted that practicing Falun Gong was able to improve his physical health, as well as to save money, and to bless the whole family.
When Falun Gong was outlawed by the government in 1999, Wu Jun was in low spirit, refusing to eat or drink. He did not practice Falun Gong in the daytime anymore. Instead, he practiced it in private at home in the midnight. His wife was a kindhearted but weak-minded woman, always following the advice of Wu Jun. She did her best to persuade Wu Jun to give up Falun Gong, and even quarreled with him over this issue. But Wu Jun turned a deaf ear to what she said. So she stopped her efforts, acquiescing in his habit of practicing Falun Gong in secret in the midnight at home.
Over the past several years, Wu Jun used to prepare his lessons in the evening, and then to practice Falun Gong from 20:00 till early the next morning. He refused to see doctor, or to take medication. Being worried about his physical health, his wife stopped her business to take care of him at home.
One day I went to visit them. When I went into the room, I saw a portrait hung on the wall next to the bed; and the desk was piled with the book Zhuan Falun, written teachings and magnetic tapes on Falun Gong. There was also a mat under a pillow on bed. There was not any decent furniture in the room. I advised him to give up Falun Gong and suggested him going to seek medical treatment in order to prevent the deterioration of his diseases. But he replied that he was under protection of his master’s law body, and he was confident that he could achieve consummation someday.
One evening in 2010, Wu Jun’s wife got poisoned by gas when she warmed herself by a fire. She was found by a neighbor an hour later. When Wu Jun came back, he insisted on keeping his wife at home rather than sending her to a hospital. He said his wife would recover when he eliminated her karma with Falun Gong. But after 40 minutes, Falun Gong did not bring his wife back to consciousness. When I came to their home, I called a van and forced Wu Jun’s wife to a hospital. But it was too late. My sister-in-law lost some functions of her brain, and turned into a vegetable. The medical cost used up all of their savings. My mother begged Wu Jun to give up Falun Gong. She warned him that the family would be completely destroyed should something unexpected happened to him. But the stubborn-minded Wu Jun did not accept the advice. He even cursed two of our relatives who came to persuade him and drove them away.
On the morning of September 30, 2012, I was informed of the death of Wu Jun. When I rushed to the school, I saw some teachers gathering in front of the door of his dormitory. My poor younger brother was lying breathless on the floor by his bedside, He looked weird, with his mouth wide open and some vomit in his mouth. He died a tragic death. His wife was lying sadly in bed with her eyes full of tears. She witnessed the death of Wu Jun, but was unable to call for a help.
My younger brother died. He left the world to seek his consummation, leaving behind his paralyzed wife and his son who has not finished studies.
